Bachelor's degree programs
The bachelor's degree in Physics (Class L-30 within the degree in Physical Sciences and Technologies, DM 270/04) lasts 3 year and it leads to earning the title of "Dottore in Fisica".
This course is supervised by the Teaching Board of the School in Physical Sciences and Technologies, headed by Barbara Pasquini and by Paolo Montagna as deputy director and as course manager.
The goal of this bachelor's degree program is to give a solid background in physics, based both on an appropriate knowledge of mathematics and on a series of experiments in our teaching laboratory.
The path taken by a physicist leads her/him to hone her/his skills in solving problems: The knowledge and the mindset trained during the studies bring an extreme versatility and adaptability allowing the use of the acquired expertises in different fields. These skills are further improved in the Master Studies in Physical Sciences, which is the typical choice of most of the students who have completed this bachelor's program.
The mandatory requirement to enroll in a Bachelor's degree programme is the so-called "Diploma di Scuola Secondaria Superore" or an equivalent title. It is considered sufficient the scientific knowledge and the skills which are usully acquired during the high school studies, especially with reference to the elementary aspects of algebra, trigonometry and geometry. These must be accompanied by an interest towards the investigation of all physical phonomena.
The Bachelor's program is three years long and it consists of several courses up to a total of 180 credits. One acquires a deep knowledge of classical mechanics as well as of the basic tools and methods in mathematics, chemistry and computing. In addition one learns the basics of modern physics ranging from relativity, quantum mechanics, to nuclear physics, elementary particle physics and condensed matter physics.
In addition the students are involved in several courses based on laboratory activities, during which one consolidates the previously acquired knowledge and hones the skills necessary to gather and to interpret experimental data.
