NMR/MRI/hyperthermia/Imaging

By means of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia and analysis of Imaging data, the research group faces advanced topics of biomedical interest.
In the NMR/MRI field, new materials possibly useful as contrast agents for standard T1- and T2-weighted MRI sequences, and for dynamic nuclear hyperpolarization, are developed, aiming to increase the sensitivity in the image contrast with the help of spin dynamics physical models.
For the data analysis of medical images (CT, MRI, PET, etc), advanced methods like radiomics, machine learning and neural networks are used. These investigations aim to predict and/or follow-up the evolution of different pathologies, included the tumoral and the neuro-degenerative diseases.
Finally, combinations of different novel therapeutic techniques, as Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia, Boron Neutron Capture Therapy and hadron therapy, are investigated with the objective of obtaining a more effective treatment of radio-resistant tumors.
